Scope: Worldwide Starbucks Corporation in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a voluntary product hazardous recall on the Barista® Blade Grinders due to safety concerns. Name of Product: Barista® Blade Grinders in Nine Assorted Styles Hazard: The grinder blade could continue to operate after the unit is turned off, posing a potential safety hazard to consumers. Incidents/Injuries: Starbucks has received approximately 170 reports of the continuous operation, including four reports of minor injuries including lacerations. Description: This voluntary recall applies to eight styles of the Starbucks Barista® Blade Grinder and one style of Seattle’s Best Coffee Blade Grinder. The SKU number is listed on the price tag (if still attached) on the bottom of the coffee grinder. Sold At: The Starbucks Barista® Blade Grinder, in nine styles, was sold in company-operated and licensed locations throughout United States, Canada, and many International markets. The units were manufactured from March 2002 through March 2009. This recall also affects Blade Grinders sold in Seattle’s Best Coffee locations in the U.S. and on Starbucksstore.com. Remedy: Customers who purchased any
of the eight styles of the Barista® Blade Grinders or the Seattle’s best
Coffee Blade Grinder are asked to call the Blade Grinder recall hotline
at Consumer Info: Customers can expect to receive their replacement grinders approximately eight weeks from the time Starbucks receives their original grinders. Starbucks has to validate each grinder that comes in for return. Once that happens, a replacement grinder will be sent.
