SUBJECT: HAZARDOUS RECALL - Tech International recalls Stem ValvesDISTRIBUTION: WORLDWIDE Car Care Centers In cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA) Tech International of Johnstown, Ohio is recalling certain replacement snap-in Tire Valves Model #s TR413, TR413CH, TR414, TR415, TR418, and TR423 manufactured between July and November 2006 and were shipped to Tech International between August and December of 2006.
Name of Products: snap-in Tire Valves Model #s TR413, TR413CH, TR414, TR415, TR418, and TR423. Main problem is with TR413.
Car Care centers may have used these valves on tires purchased between January to July of 2007.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 6,000,000
Hazard: The rubber portion of the valve stem may crack and permit the gradual loss of tire pressure. Continuing to drive on under-inflated tires could damage the tire and possibly cause a vehicle crash
Instructions for Consumers: Drivers who purchased tires from AAFES between August 2006 and June 2008 should inspect valve stems for damage, cracking or loss of air. If a problem exists, please visit your local Car Care Center for a free valve stem inspection and replacements if necessary. Furthermore, if a defective valve stem has caused structural tire damage, the tire may be replaced as necessary. Customers may also contact Tech International directly at 1-740-967-9015.
